WORKSHOP

What the difference between a yoga class and a workshop?

Workshops differ from a regular class in that they are specialty classes with an extended period of time so you are able to dive deeper into the practice.

Whether it's the workshop is focused on arm balancing, back bending or even partner yoga, you'll leave with a fresh perspective and more knowledge that you can put into place in your everyday practice.

Behind Rechaka Retreats

Meet The Masterminds

Behind Rechaka Retreats

Meet The Masterminds

It all began from a shared love of yoga… and books.

Shalane Carter and MaKenzie Fly are avid readers. In the height of the pandemic of 2020, both were teaching at the same yoga studio and themselves talking about how they craved for more... They wished they had a community where they could have deep conversations about the universe and the meaning of life… ya know more than the polite chit chat about the weather.

That desire inspired them to start a book club called “Good Reads and Good Deeds” where they read yogic philosophy, self help, and metaphysical books. The reading was always paired with a charity and the group would either donate time, money, or energy. They loved creating a space for community, connection, and karma, but still… wanted more.

She has been teaching for over a decade and is considered an experienced 500-hour registered yoga teacher and YCAP by Yoga Alliance. During that time, Shalane was also helping MaKenzie navigate the business side of being a yogiprenuer. MaKenzie was approached to help open a yoga studio in Vegas, but funding fell through.

That’s when they had this idea… “Why don't we do something together?!?!”

Each had immense experience in different, but complementary areas.

Shalane in healing and energy work, and MaKenzie in yoga and yoga philosophy from facilitating Yoga Teacher Trainings for years. And, they just genuinely enjoyed hanging out together.

They decided, “Let’s do one healing yoga retreat and see how it goes!”

(Becoming business partners is like a second marriage, it’s good to have a dating stage!)

“If it goes well and we enjoy working together like this, we can really make it official.” they said.

Needless to say, it went beyond well! Their first retreat left people speechless, except the raving testimonials that poured in praises. Everyone was also blown away at how close they became, from complete strangers to lasting friends, in a matter of days.

Shalane and MaKenzie looked at each other and said, “YES! This is the more we’ve been looking for.”

And so, Rechaka Retreats was born.

In business, there’s often conversation about how in working together, you learn so much about yourself too. Rechaka Retreats does more than just provide a healing experience for the retreat goers. The entire process is also a mindfulness practice for the hosts and it shows in every retreat goers face.

MaKenzie and Shalane do the work necessary to create a safe space for optimal transformations, quantum leaps, and deep healing. They do this by walking the walk.

These retreats are more than just yoga classes in beautiful locations...these retreats are life- changing and soul-altering experiences.

So what are you waiting for? Will you join on us on the next Rechaka Retreat?

About the Retreat

FAQs

So that you feel fully prepared, here are the answers to our most frequently asked questions.

Can I get a refund if I test positive for COVID or am not able to attend?

No, all deposits are non refundable and non transferable. However, if you have paid the remaining balance you are eligible for a refund of the remaining balance up to 45 days prior to the retreat. After 45 days out from the retreat we do not offer any refunds.

Can I transfer my deposit to another retreat in the future?

We would love to have you at another retreat, but deposits cannot be transferred.

I am a beginner. Will I be left in the dust on the yoga mat?

One of our wise teachers (who happens to be in a wheelchair) once said, “Asanas, or postures, discriminate, but yoga doesn't”. At this retreat we are practicing yoga beyond the poses. Yes, there will be the physical practice of yoga, but we always encourage you to make it your own and do what you need to take care of yourself.

Do I have to participate in all the activities?

We encourage you to take advantage of everything the retreat itinerary and beautiful city has to offer. As they say the more you put in, the more you’ll get out. There will be free time for you to do you, boo.

Diet and food allergies, let’s talk. I don’t mean to be extra, but can you accommodate my sensitivities?

Healthy and fresh food is our top priority. Three healthy meals will be provided daily. The resort rotates between vegetarian, fresh fish, and lean chicken. Vegan, gluten free, and allergies can be accommodated upon request.

Do we provide transportation to/from the airport?

Airport transportation is NOT included in your retreat package, but IS available for separate purchase. If you choose to coordinate transportation to Amansala with Rechaka Retreats, we will comprise a list of all retreat attendees and forward flight information to Amansala. Amansala organizes group pickup depending on arrival/departure times and number in the party. Estimated price if riding solo is $150 but can drop to as low as $40/person should you have more than one person in your shuttle. They do their best to put several people in the shuttle together to give you the best price. You can always choose to arrange your own transportation to the resort though.

Will you provide a detailed daily itinerary and packing list?

Yes, we got you! You’ll need your pretty self, a yoga mat and an open heart. We’ll give you more specifics straight to your inbox when it gets closer.

What other expenses can I expect?

You will need to purchase your roundtrip flights separately. Bring extra spending money for shopping during your free time. If you'd like to take advantage of the spa or other excursions (there’s some pretty epic things to see in Tulum) then definitely plan to bring cash for those. One dinner during the week will be "off site" and is not included in your retreat package. This is so that our group can taste the flavors of Tulum and support local businesses.
